My Story

Ambassador Sheila Renee McGruder Youngblood-Shields, a native of South Carolina, is a living testimony of God’s power.

Min. Sheila McGruder is a devoted wife to Mr. Rodriquez McGruder. She has one sister, Regina Robinson. Her life is a living testimony of God’s power, from her miraculous birth to the conception of her three children, and the extraordinary journey of her late son Christopher. She has overcome numerous medical challenges, including surviving a coma, and continues to inspire others through her resilience.

A native of South Carolina, Sheila graduated from Walterboro High School in 1983, where she excelled as a J.V. and Varsity cheerleader for the WHS Bulldogs, a member of the Honors Allstate Chorale, and an active participant in student government.

Her Christian journey began early at Wesley United Methodist Church, where she was baptized and served alongside her adoptive father, Deacon Willie C. Youngblood. Sheila is an ordained pastor and the founder of Wailing Warrior International Global Ministries, established in Walterboro in 1992. Her ministry spans decades of public service, community advocacy, and spreading the Gospel across the U.S. and Central Europe.

As an Oral Roberts University missionary, Sheila ministered internationally and sang with the esteemed ORU Gospel Choir Souls A’ Fire, founded by the late Carlton D. Pearson. In 2009, she was proclaimed an Ambassador of Prayer which helped her to fulfill God’s vision to transform women and reclaim men for the Kingdom under the mentorship of her spiritual parents, the late Dr. Alfred and Josephine Givens.

Her dedication to education and service reflects her unwavering commitment to excellence and leadership. Sheila’s academic accomplishments are equally noteworthy. She holds a master’s degree in Human Relations with an emphasis in Social Justice and Organizational Leadership from the University of Oklahoma, a Bachelor’s degree from Langston University, and additional degrees in Liberal Arts and Health Science from Tulsa Community College and Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College. Her dedication to lifelong learning reflects her commitment to excellence and leadership.

Recently, Sheila returned to her hometown under God’s divine direction. She is a proud member of New Life United Methodist Church, where Rev. Angela Ford Broughton serves as her pastor. With a heart devoted to God’s glory, Min. McGruder continues to impact lives and fulfill her calling.
